In recent times, there has been a trend of making large Pan India movies based on mythological stories. One such movie in pre-production is Hiranya Kasyapa, which is a dream project of director Gunasekhar. He had been working on this project with his team for almost five years and had even signed a deal with Naresh Production and a Bollywood production company. The budget for the film was said to be more than 300 crores, as stated by producer Suresh Babu.
However, due to differences between Gunasekhar and Suresh Babu, the project got stuck. Gunasekhar had revealed that the story of Hiranya Kasyapa was his and that he would soon announce with whom he will do it. The film was supposed to be done after the completion of Shakunthalam, but with the movie not doing well, there are rumors that this project may no longer exist.
It seems that finding another producer for this project is difficult, as Gunasekhar faced many difficulties as a producer with his previous movie Rudramadevi. Although Dil Raju had joined hands with Gunasekhar for Shakunthalam, Gunasekhar still gave him a shock, making it seem unlikely that anyone would come forward to believe in Gunasekhar and become a constructive partner for the Hiranya Kasyapa project. As a result, doubts have arisen that this project may never take off.
