This is the story of Harshavardhan, a 33-year-old from Khammam, whose tale is truly heartrending.

Harshavardhan arrived in Australia in 2013 to pursue higher education after completing his B-pharmacy degree. He graduated from Brisbane University with a degree in Health Management and General Medicine, and went on to work as a doctor in Queensland. In February of 2020, he got married, but later that same year, in October, he fell ill while exercising.

After undergoing a series of medical tests, Harshavardhan discovered that he had developed lung cancer. He underwent treatment in Australia, but the cancer returned in 2022. This time, doctors informed him that it was incurable and that time was running out.

Despite the grave nature of his condition, Harshavardhan remained remarkably courageous. He informed his family, friends, and others about his illness, and took steps to make sure that his affairs were in order. He even divorced his wife and arranged for her to be taken care of. He spoke with his father, mother, and friends via video call nearly every day, and maintained a facade of normalcy in his daily life.

Because Harshavardhan was living in Australia, he enlisted the help of a lawyer to secure the necessary permissions to transport his remains back to his homeland. After completing all of the necessary procedures in accordance with Australian law, Harshavardhan received all of the necessary approvals, and on March 24th, he passed away.

On Wednesday, Harshavardhan's remains were transported to Khammam, where they were met with the grief of his family members. If he were still alive, Harshavardhan would have returned to India in May to attend the wedding of his younger brother, Akhil. However, fate had other plans.
