Tamil actor Dhanush’s pan-Indian film 'Captain Miller', directed by Arun Matheswaran, will hit the screens in Telugu on January 25. On Wednesday, the film's trailer was shared via social media by Victory Venkatesh and Akkineni Nagarjuna.
The film is set in the pre-independence era when India was reeling under British rule. Dhanush plays a local rebel leader from a disadvantaged social group. He takes on the colonizers, calling them looters. Quickly, he is labeled a dacoit by the British masters and a traitor by the locals, facing a double whammy of sorts.
Asian Multiplexes Pvt Ltd and Suresh Productions have bought the Telugu rights to 'Captain Miller' for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The release is going to be prominent. Priyanka Mohan, Sundeep Kishan, and Dr Shiva Rajkumar are seen in important roles. The music is by GV Prakash Kumar.
The film's Tamil release has been eventful. Critics there have lauded 'Captain Miller' for its subtext and honesty. "Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni's craft is luminous in places of grandeur," wrote a reviewer, praising the visual quality of the movie. "Dhanush stands tall in this class action film," wrote a prominent daily.
