In his Monday statement about the failure of 'Agent', Akhil Akkineni didn't make even a mechanical reference to Surender Reddy. He thanked producer Anil Sunkara and distributors. Even the media was thanked, but not the 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' director.
The same holds for Anil Sunkara, who snubbed the 'Race Gurram' maker by implying that his inability to commence the shoot with a bound script has to be blamed for the utter failure of 'Agent'.
Why are both the producer and the hero after the 'Kick' director? One can safely speculate that the director's involvement on the financial front resulted in some mess. 'Agent' is a cost-failure project. Its budget shot up like anything. Had the budget been under control, the extent of financial damage would not have been colossal.
Probably, the director has some financial issues to be settled with the producer. That's why Anil Sunkara and his hero haven't thanked him even for tokenistic reasons.
