Hyderabad, the pearl city, turned saffron during the celebration of Sri Rama Navami festival. The Shobha Yatra, a procession, is a significant part of the festival that starts at the Seetarambagh temple and ends at the Hanuman Vyamshala grounds in Koti. However, the festival saw a controversy after pictures of Nathuram Godse, the killer of Mahatma Gandhi, were spotted during the procession. It is suspected that some leaders might have influenced the youths to hold the portraits of Godse during the yatra.

Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh, who is known for his controversial comments, was a centre of attraction during the procession. The Hyderabad police provided special security for the procession, but Godse's pictures were still held by some youths.

The rise in popularity of controversial figures like Nathuram Godse and Veer Savarkar, who were earlier restricted to Maharashtra, is concerning as they are now gaining popularity in other states as well. The Congress party strongly opposes Nathuram Godse as he killed Gandhi, who is known as the Father Of The Nation.

While people are free to express their opinions and take the reference of Godse in regular events, bringing controversial figures like him to religious celebrations and occasions is not appropriate. The right-wing supporters may see him as a hero, but it should not result in bringing him to religious celebrations and gathering people in large numbers.
