The ruling BRS party in Telangana is facing a difficult decision on whether to support the Janata Dal (Secular) led by HD Kumaraswamy in the upcoming Karnataka elections or not. The BRS is concerned that if they actively work to support JDS but it fails to make a mark, it could damage the party's image as it aims to begin its national foray in a spectacular way.

However, if the BRS chooses to play safe and stay away from Karnataka elections, HD Kumaraswamy might leave the alliance led by the BRS, which could affect the party's credibility. Furthermore, elections to the Telangana assembly are also scheduled around the same time, which could create a resource allocation problem for the BRS if it decides to support JDS. If the BRS helps JDU and then faces a shortage of resources for its own election in Telangana, it could be detrimental to the party's prospects.

For now, the JDS is the only political party that has aligned with the BRS at the national level, and if KCR chooses to stay away from Karnataka elections, the BRS's only supporter at the national level might slip away. This puts KCR in a dilemma, and it remains to be seen what strategy he would adopt regarding the Karnataka elections.
