Polling for seven MLC seats in the quota of MLAs in AP has been completed. So far, all MLAs have voted while counting starts after 5 pm. The results will also be declared today (March 23). Earlier Ganta Srinivasa Rao had resigned as MLA protesting the privatization of Visakha Steel Plant. Since then, the resignation of Speaker Sitaram is pending.

Now, every vote has become crucial for the seven MLCs who have entered the fray on behalf of the YCP. In this backdrop, if the resignation of Ganta Srinivasa Rao had been accepted by Speaker Tammineni Sitaram before the voting, it is now a matter of question whether Ganta's vote would be valid or not.

However, the Speaker has not yet announced that Ganta's resignation has been accepted. Even the Legislature has not made an official announcement. On the other hand, Ganta has expressed his anger that the YCP is spreading the word that the Speaker has accepted his resignation and added that he has not received any official information that his resignation has been accepted.

Ganta alleged that if the Speaker had accepted his resignation, it implies that none of the YCP MLAs would vote for the TDP. Ganta criticized that YCP is trying to spread the feeling that an MLA in TDP cannot vote.  Ganta reminded that he had personally met the Speaker twice to accept his resignation two years ago and questioned whether the resignation, which has not been approved since then, be approved now. He said that it is not technically possible to accept the resignation after the voter list is received.
