3 shot dead, several injured in the US

In yet another shocking incident, at least three people were killed and numerous others were injured on Sunday night at a home in the state of Maryland in what is being reported as another shooting event in the US.

Officers responded to a complaint about a gunshot with numerous injuries at a residence in the 1000 block of Paddington Place between Edgewood Road and Kensington Way, a quiet Annapolis neighbourhood, at around 8 o'clock on Sunday.

Bernie Bennett, a spokesman for the Annapolis Police, described the incident in the city's southeast as a "domestic shooting" in which several people were shot.

The victims, aged between the early 20s and early 50s, are suspected to know each other. According to The Baltimore Sun, it started as a domestic disagreement that went wrong.

The suspect was taken into custody; one victim was sent to a trauma centre; and he is not in a state to reveal what exactly has happened. However, the number of fatalities was not yet confirmed as of Sunday night.

Ed Jackson, the chief of the city police, made a veiled allusion to a potential increase in fatalities.

Jackson stated, "We don't get a lot of calls of this nature in this area," adding that "no area is immune" to the easy access of handguns.
