Chandrababu Naidu's self-dabba in India Today interview is full-on comedy

Chandrababu Naidu was today interviewed by India Today's Rajdeep Sardesai. Vague replies and self-important boasts defined the TDP chief's answers.

The former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister attributed to himself the Digital India revolution witnessed under the Modi government. "It was I who first gave a report on the need for digital transactions. Today, India has the world's highest number of digital transactions," Naidu said.

He went on to repeatedly say that he has always been ahead of his time. "That's the biggest problem with me. Since I am ahead of the curve, people misunderstand me. My party lost the elections in 2004 because people didn't understand me," Naidu said. It's laughable that Naidu blames voters instead of doing a dispassionate analysis. Narendra Modi, too, took many unpopular decisions as the CM of Gujarat. Yet, he kept on winning. As the PM, he has stayed away from populist welfarism and yet remains the most popular leader in the country.

Naidu steered clear of giving a clear answer on INDI Alliance's proposed wealth survey and caste survey. Instead, he diverted the interviewer's attention to his intent to do a 'skill survey' in the event of his party winning the coming elections. Why is Naidu scared of taking a stand on the caste survey? Is it also because he is allegedly ahead of his time?
