'Kalki 2898 AD' effect: Youngsters listen to Garikapati, Chaganti!

'Kalki 2898 AD' shows Karna as a heroic man, albeit someone with grey shades. The truth of the matter, as per those who have read the epic Mahabharata, is that Karna was no great warrior.

After the release of the Prabhas-Nag Ashwin movie this week, Netizens are seen sharing clips related to old sermons delivered by a couple of prominent scholars. In a video clip that is going viral on social media, Garikipati Narasimha Rao is heard pooh-poohing mainstream cinema for glorifying Karna in the past. He probably had NT Rama Rao's 'Dana Veera Soora Karna' in his mind. Garikapati is considered a scholar, litterateur, and is a highly-regarded avadhani.

Another video shared by Netizens features Chaganti Koteswara Rao, who is known for his scriptures-based discourses on Sanatana Dharma. Chaganti, too, echoes the view that Karna doesn't deserve to be lionized.

One wonders what the makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' have to say about the whole debate. Knowing filmmakers, they would be happy about anything that gives their films free publicity.
