'Happy Days', directed by Sekhar Kammula, was originally released in theatres in 2007. The musical college campus drama was was fronted by Varun Sandesh, Tamannaah Bhatia (who went on to become a star actress), Rahul Haridas, Nikhil Siddharth, Vamsee Krishna, Sonia Deepti, Gayatri Rao, and Monali Chowdhary.
The news is that the acclaimed box-office hit will hit the screens on April 12 as part of its re-release. Global Cinemas is going to re-release it in the Telugu States.
The film won the Second Best Feature Film Nandi Award for the year. The Best Music Director award went to Mickey J Meyer, while the Best Male Playback Singer award went to singer Karthik for the song 'Oh My Friend'. It also won multiple Filmfare Awards South, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Music Director and Best Supporting Actress.
Will the re-release in April work? There could be a surprise on the upside, considering that musical hits like 'Oy!' have done very well upon their re-release.
Sekhar Kammula is these days doing 'Kubera' with Dhanush in the lead. The film will hit the screens later this year.
