Rouse Avenue Court rejects Kavitha’s Interim Bail Petition

The interim bail petition of BRS MLC K Kavitha, arrested in connection with the Liquor Excise Policy scam, has been rejected by a Special court in Delhi. Kavitha filed an interim bail petition on the ground that she had to prepare her child for the annual examinations.

Kavitha filed an interim bail petition requesting that her 16-year-old son's exams for which he needed his mother's "moral and emotional support".

While rejecting the interim bail petition, Special Judge(PC Act) Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue court observed that the “argument that mother to address the exam related anxiety of the child is not a ‘compelling’ reason to grant interim bail, in the opinion of this court.”

Kavitha was under Enforcement Directorate(ED) custody from the day she was arrested on 16 March. The ED officials questioned her for 10 days in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam. Presently, she is lodged in Tihar Jail.
