Telangana: BJP to field former PM's son against Rahul Gandhi?

It has been rumoured that Rahul Gandhi will be vacating Wayanad, Kerala, this time. The PM aspirant might contest as an MP from Khammam in Telangana. If this happens, it would be a major political development. The Congress party feels that it is the strongest in Telangana at the moment, which is why it wants to use the prestigious RaGa contest to further boost its prospects in the State.

If it happens, the BJP is said to be mooting an interesting option. It wants to field PV Prabhakar Rao, the son of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. Currently, PM Modi, JP Nadda and Amit Shah are waiting for the Congress party to signal its intent.

It must be noted that the PV family and the Nehru-Gandhi family have not been on good terms for decades now. PV's mortal remains were disrespected by the Congress party led by Sonia Gandhi in the mid-2000s. By fielding Prabhakar Rao, the BJP wants to convey something symbolic. But Rao won't win against RaGa, especially because the Congress party will put in all its human and strategic resources to secure the win of its biggest leader.
