One of the hallmark investments brought in by the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu has been the KIA motors plant in Anantapur. TDP got decent mileage through this plant with their all-out PR campaigns projecting as if they were behind the inception of the plant from day 1 while in reality, YSR was the one who proposed the idea first while he was in power.
Whatever might be the real story, TDP and Chandrababu Naidu got a lot of good press for bringing KIA to AP and the party is still striving on this sentiment in the Anantapur belt.
Cut to now, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has another such hallmark opportunity at hand as he is presented with the golden opportunity to bring the proposed Tesla EV plant to AP.
"The AP govt. is actively engaging with @Tesla nd will be a contender in getting it to set up its plant in Andhra Pradesh. We have suitable land banks, a skilled workforce, and proximity to Bengaluru and Chennai/Krishnapatnam ports to offer. The AP govt. will work with Tesla to resolve any of their concerns." Vijayasai Reddy tweeted earlier.
Musk is coming to India later this month and it is heard that he is partnering with Mukesh Ambani for the setting up of this plant. If Jagan can use his connections with Ambani to finalize the Tesla deal and bring the plant to AP, then it will largely influence the polling trends in AP in favor of the Jagan government. But will this possible before the D-day of Mar 13? We shall wait and see.
