Kamakshi Bhaskarla elated as she wins Dada Saheb Phalke Award for 'Maa Oori Polimera 2'

Dr. Kamakshi Bhaskarla has been feted with the Best Actress award at the recent Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival in New Delhi. It was the 14th edition of the awards. The recognition is for her performance in 'Maa Oori Polimera 2', the 2023 release.

Saying that she is thrilled beyond words, Kamakshi thanked her guru Rathna Shekar of Samahaara Theatre and acting coach Neeraj Kabi. She also profusely thanked the audience for showering their love on her. “We were confident that the film would do well, but never expected awards. I think it’s because of the collaborative teamwork in the film and I have won awards. It was heartening to see how far we have come as a team and how audiences from other languages are appreciating content," she further said.

In an interview, Kamakshi once said that she doesn't let her personal ideology come in the way of her acting choices. "I have been trained to think that every cell of my body has to surrender to the character. That's why I have not shied away from doing love-making scenes in 'Priyuralu' and 'Maa Oori Polimera 1'. If an actress starts off by doing soft roles and goes about doing bold roles later in her career, they call her a performer. But if an actress starts playing bold roles right from the beginning, they stereotype her. That's not how it should be," she added.
