Does anyone remember these two jokes?: Common Man Protection Force and Pawanism

Common Man Protection Force, a voluntary outfit, was formed in 2007. Its founder Pawan Kalyan announced its formation at a televised press meet in the presence of his then live-in partner Renu Desai. On the occasion, Pawan (who was just an actor at that time) said that the voluntary body would take up several issues like the fluorosis issue plaguing Nalgonda, the suicides of weavers and farmers, and other social problems.

While announcing the formation of the NGO, his words were vague but the performance was funny. Pawan made two phone numbers official and asked those in need to contact his team on those numbers. How was he planning to ensure support to thousands of people from the then-united Andhra Pradesh? Where was the manpower? Where were the funds going to come from? Pawan himself had no answers. It didn't take even a few months for everyone, especially Pawan, to forget all about the so-called protection force.

After dabbling with the Praja Rajyam Party in 2008 and 2009, he was a silent witness to the decay and the eventual dissolution of his brother's party. Five years later, Pawan came up with a new joke: Pawanism. That was in 2014. It has been ten years and even his die-hard Jana Sena followers don't know what Pawanism actually means. It was marketed as a socio-political ideology but JSP itself is bereft of a single noteworthy leader who has a firm stand on any issue. Most voters don't know the name of its No. 2!

Common Man Protection Force and Pawanism are proof that Pawan Kalyan is a poor thinker and an even poorer marketing strategist.
