The announcement made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam that the city would soon become the executive capital has drawn criticism from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

TDP President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that Jagan's announcement amounted to contempt of court as the case is still pending in the Supreme Court. He further stated that the TDP was considering filing a contempt of court case against the Chief Minister and his government.

Even TDP leaders are of the opinion that Chandrababu seems to be getting desperate regarding the capital issue because he fears that if the Supreme Court gives a decision in favour of AP government, he cannot use the Amaravathi sentiment during the next elections.

Hence, this open talk for the first time that he will even initiate contempt of court proceedings against Jagan Mohan Reddy. Political observers feel that the success of Vizag summit may have further angered him who feels that such summits should only be hosted by the TDP government.
