February 24th marks the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and there has been a thaw in aggressive fighting in the recent weeks due to the brutal winter conditions. All that is set to change with the winter slowly making way to spring in East Europe and it could well be a significant moment of the war.

Russian President Putin who considers this war to be a prestige issue is expected to significantly ramp up military operations and launch a strong offensive in the coming days even as Ukraine is also being supplied more and more of Western weapons to face the Russian assault and also counter attack wherever possible.

The war experts predict it is going to a bloody spring as casualties and property damage is expected to touch the peak. Whether a truce will be arrived or whether Russia will finally emerge victorious or whether Ukraine will successfully withstand the onslaught is something left to destiny. At the end of the day, it is the human lives and suffering which is going to increase further in that region.
