The takeover of the airline carrier Air India by the Tata group seems to be creating a complete makeover for India's national airline. Recently the news regarding Air India placing one of the largest orders in recent history for more than 400 brand new planes has stunned the world. The value of this order is estimated to be $70 billion and even the US president Joe Biden tweeted about it citing how it is going to create employment across various parts of America and Europe.

Now, great news is in the offing. With new planes all set to enter the fray, Air India is also sprucing up existing aircraft and leveraging its prime slots in Europe and North America. They are gearing up to launch long haul flights directly from Indian cities of Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi.

There has been a demand for a long time towards direct connectivity from South India to North America and although there are a few flights every week, it is not enough to meet the traveler demand from the South to prime destinations of NRIs in North America and Europe. But with the induction of the new aircrafts and creating direct flight routes, a huge sigh of relief will be imparted to the travelers. Also, it could bring down the air fare as major exploitation happens during the on-season by the other airline carriers.

With Air India now strategizing its operations and planning for aggressive expansion and overhauling of existing operations, the day may not be far when it might once again emerge as a favorite airline for Indians. The mighty maharaja once ruled the skies before the Emirates, Etihad and the like conquered the lucrative long distance flight routes due to Air India's downfall. The trend may look to be reversed in the coming years.
