Dell Technologies Inc., which has been facing a drastic reduction in the demand for personal computers, is reportedly axing 6,650 jobs. It has joined the race as the latest technology company to announce slashing off thousands of jobs at once.

The company is reportedly facing harsh market conditions that are eroding with an uncertain future, according to its Co-Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clarke. The reductions account for 5% of Dell's overall global workforce.

Following record sales in a pandemic-era PC boom, Dell and many other hardware makers are now facing slowing down demand. The previous cost-cutting measures like hiring freeze and limits on travel, don't seem to have worked and now department reorganizations as well as job reductions, are being seen as an opportunity to improve efficiency.
