In what is being seen as a big relief towards easing the record visa waiting times for Indians applying from India for US visas, here's a major update from the US state department. Till now, Indians could apply only from India for American visas and cannot do it with tourist visas from other host countries.
They are now exempt from doing so. They can now apply from other countries where US visa slots are available and sources say that this move will drastically address the shortfall of appointments which is almost running into more than 2 years.
Indians can now travel to other countries on a valid visa and they can attend the visa interview slots from there and then secure tourist and business visas. This is seen as a very unique and bold move by the American authorities.
