3 Body Problem: Netflix's series garners interesting reviews

'3 Body Problem' is the title of the latest English-language science fiction series to stream on Netflix. Created by David Benioff, DB Weiss and Alexander Woo, the television series is based on the Chinese novel 'The Three-Body Problem'. The showrunners of the series are the same as that of 'Game Of Thrones'.

The storyline goes something like this. An astrophysicist's father was murdered during the Chinese Cultural Revolution in the 1960s. "She was conscripted by the military because of her scientific background and sent to a secret radar base in a remote region. Her fateful decision at the base echoes across space and time to a group of scientists in the present day, forcing them to face humanity's greatest threat," says Wikipedia, explaining the premise.

Starring Benedict Wong and others, the series' first season comprises eight episodes. "Not content with turning one borderline unfilmable set of novels into highly watchable TV, the makers have repeated the trick with this deeply complex sci-fi series," opined The Guardian in its positive review. "The Netflix sci-fi adaptation has done its physics homework, even if it sometimes falls short on the humanities," mentioned the New York Times in its mixed review.

However, The Independent gave a negative review. "The cast is fine but lacking in star power, with the story and production values taking the limelight," the publication opined.
