Samantha Ruth Prabhu is stunned by a recent movie that hit the screens and has since been garnering huge online and critical acclaim. It is the Malayalam film 'Kaathal – The Core', starring Mammootty and Jyotika as a husband and wife.
In her review of the legal drama on Sunday, the 'Shaakuntalam' and 'Kushi' actor wrote, “Movie of the year. Do yourself a favour and watch this beautiful yet powerful gem of a film. Mammootty sir, you are my hero. I will not be able to get over this performance for a long time. Jyotika, love youuu." She added that director Jeo Baby has brought out legendary content.
The latest Mollywood release has Mammootty in the role of a homosexual man. "Courtroom scenes are the strength of Kaathal, where many references are made to the dichotomous realities of gay individuals stuck in heterosexual marriages for social acceptance," wrote TNM in its review.
The emotions that underlay a loveless marriage have been dignified by the film in a touching, nonchalant manner.
