Varun Tej's 'Matka' on hold due to budget issues? Makers react

It has been rumoured for the past couple of days that Varun Tej's most ambitious film, 'Matka', has been indefinitely delayed due to budget-related issues. A section of the media stated that the project won't go on the floors until there is a reassessment of the budget in consultation with Varun Tej.

On Sunday, the makers of the period action drama reacted to the rumours by giving a specific shoot update. The film is very much on the track to commence its shoot in December.

"We are busy with pre-production formalities and huge sets have been erected to recreate the milieu from the 1950s to 1980s. Our film is based on a real incident that shook the entire nation and the story is set in the backdrop of Vizag. A huge set depicting old Vizag city is being constructed in a grand way in Hyderabad," Vyra Entertainments, which is currently producing 'Hi Nanna', said.

Directed by Karuna Kumar, 'Matka' will feature Norah Fatehi, Meenakshi Chowdary, Naveen Chandra and Kannada Kishore in key roles. It will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Varun Tej recently got married to Lavanya Tripathi.
