'Baahubali' writer ignores RSS film, new project announced

It is time for an 'Expectations Vs Reality' meme. A few years ago, 'Baahubali' and 'RRR' writer KV Vijayendra Prasad said that he would be writing the script for a biopic on the former RSS chief Guru Golwalkar. That was touted to be a proper mainstream film in which notable Bollywood stars would be playing important roles. Five years on, the project has not taken off.

RSS will now get a series. Six filmmakers have joined hands to bring out the multi-lingual series. It was in 1925 that the RSS came into existence. In the centenary year (read 2025), the series will be released. Titled 'One Nation', the pan-India project sees the coming together of these directors: Priyadarshan, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, John Mathew Mathan, Manju Borah, and Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.

Barring Vivek Agnihotri, the rest of them are not in form. 'The Kashmir Files' director's recent film, 'The Vaccine War', was too dry. One hopes 'One Nation' doesn't feel like a docudrama and that it will be made as an engaging mainstream movie.
