Is Lokesh Kanagaraj the new SS Rajamouli?

Lokesh Kanagaraj, after 'Vikram' and 'Leo', has entered the top league. 'Leo' is said to have grossed more than Rs 320 Cr (the claim that it grossed Rs 400 Cr is exaggerated) in the first weekend. Even though its content is not awesome, the film has become a massive money-spinner.

The range of success is making many wonder if the Kollywood filmmaker is the new SS Rajamouli in the town. What unites them is their popularity among the audience. Today, Kanagaraj was in Kerala's Palakkad where thousands turn up to have a glimpse of him.

All this goes to show that Kanagaraj may have left Prashanth Neel behind. Neel needs to do the catch-up job with Prabhas' 'Salaar'.

Rajamouli, Kanagaraj and Neel hail from the Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada film industries, respectively. The three filmmakers have become trailblazers of sorts.

The style of filmmaking adopted by the Neel-Kanagaraj duo will last longer, considering their style can be aped (successfully or otherwise) by every action filmmaker. On the other hand, Rajamouli is difficult to imitate for the reason that he keeps changing his style and his treatment can't be easily replicated.
