AYUSH departments at AIIMS to give in-patient care, Allopathic doctors raise alarm

It has been proposed by the AYUSH Ministry of the Government of India that Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and other non-Allopathic specialists should be allowed to provide in-patient care at AIIMS hospitals across India.

The proposal is to integrate Allopathy with traditional medicine systems.

As per some Allopathic doctors, it is a pseudo-scientific move. "Patients will lose their right to deserving and good healthcare, experience financial burden, be subjected to higher risk of adverse events from mixing of treatments, develop greater risk of progression of diseases, including worsening of self limting illnesses," writes @TheLiverDoc.

Many more Allopathic specialists are opposing the proposal, as they assert that Homeopathic care is based on zero evidence. They argue that Ayurvedic drugs can take a toll if they interact with modern medicines.

The market of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy has grown from $3 billion in 2014 to over $18 billion now.
