Lionel Messi of Argentina has been named the Best FIFA Men's Player for 2022, marking his second win after his initial victory in 2019. Argentina, who were crowned champions of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, had a successful evening at the Best FIFA Football Awards 2022, taking home a total of four awards.

Argentina's head coach Lionel Scaloni won the Best Men's Coach Award, Emiliano Martinez won the Best Men's Goalkeeper Award, and the Argentine Fans won the Best Fan Award for the first time. Spain's Alexia Putellas was awarded the Best FIFA Women's Player for the second consecutive year.

The ceremony began with a video tribute to Brazilian legend Pele, who passed away at the age of 82 on December 29, 2022. FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivered the opening speech before the presentation of awards commenced. Pele's wife, Marcia Aoki, was presented with a special recognition award by Brazilian legend Ronaldo and President Infantino. Mary Earps of England was named the Best Women's Goalkeeper, while Sarina Wiegman, coach of England's women's national team, won the Best Women's Coach award.
