An important phase of the AP elections has been completed with the wrapping up of the nomination process. The nomination filing process started on April 18 and was wrapped on 25 April.
Coming to the total count of the MLA/MP nominations filed in this one-week time, the Election Commission received 731 nominations for the 25 MP segments, and 4210 nominations were filed for the 175 MLA segments. The last day to withdraw these nominations is 29 April, post which the nomination scrutiny will begin.
A portion of these nominations will be rejected due to improper filing after the scrutiny begins so we must wait for a few days to get the final number of candidates. The polling will be held on May 13 and the result will be out on June 4th.
