Themes that revolve around social issues and especially harassment of women have become a fad these days. Has this subject proved successful today? Let us see.

Story

Raj Kumar (Vikas) is a renowned plastic surgeon who speaks about changing the face and how the face is the index of mind, even at Ted Talk events. He is in love with a girl Mahathi (Priya) who is a rather conservative town-based girl. However, Raj is loved by his childhood friend Maya (Ayesha) and she is dejected after knowing about Raj’s marriage. Twist in the tale occurs due to a series of incidents and Raj’s life goes topsy turvy.  What are those incidents? Who is Dr Satya (Chaitanya)? All this forms the rest of the tale.

Performances

Vikas performed his role well and so did Chaitanya. The one to watch was Priya who got into the double roles effectively. Her approach towards both characters was impressive. Ayesha was good. Vishwak had a brief role but he couldn’t deliver. Ravi Shankar was excellent. Others didn’t have much to do.

Crew

The background score had some points to score but songs were blink and miss. The production values were not upto the mark. The editing could have been sharp during the second half. The Costume and art department put in a good effort. The Dialogue was good in a few places.

Deeper Look

Any issue related to women is always sensitive and it is also the right ingredient for leveraging on the silver screen. Even big stars like Pawan Kalyan and Amitabh Bachchan have dabbled with it. Anyhow, coming to our movie, it appears the subject chosen was quite hot but it was unable to really narrate it in the same way. For most of the time, the audience is led to believe it is a thriller and the first half passes off rather lucidly. The interval bang is okay. Things pick up in the second half but by then it is too late. To add to that the courtroom scenes were too melodramatic and far from realistic portrayal. Overall, the film fails to hook the audience barring a few places here and there.

Vox Verdict

A ‘Chitram’ that can be forgotten
