Polling Kick Starts In Mahabubnagar MLC Bye-Election

Mahabubnagar MLC bye-election has garnered the spotlight, as this is the first election being held this year. The polling started on Thursday morning, March 28th, 2024. The Congress and the main opposition BRS have intensified their campaign for their victories, viewing this election as a matter of prestige. The BRS faces a formidable challenge in defending its incumbent seat, the ruling Congress is leaving no stone unturned to capture the seat from its rival.

From ruling Congress party Mane Jeevan Reddy and from Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) N Naveen Reddy are in foray. Although BRS has the majority in terms of their representatives, speculation is high that there might be huge cross voting.

A total of 1,439 elected representatives of local bodies, namely ZPTCs, MPTCs in Zilla and Mandal Parishads and councillors in municipalities and in addition to them all the MLA and MPs from erstwhile Mahabubnagar districts will exercise their votes.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will cast his vote in the MLC elections as an ex-officio member who won as MLA from Kodangal constituency which is in erstwhile Mahabubnagar.
