BJP projects Revanth Reddy as casteist, racist

It seems the BJP is on a mission to portray the new chief minister of Telangana as a casteist and racist. The other day, the party plugged an old video clip wherein Revanth Reddy was heard saying that KCR's family has roots in Bihar and that the BRS supremo is a Kurmi. "Bihari DNA can't be superior to the Telangana DNA," Reddy declared in the video, referring to himself as a true-blue Telangana man. The BJP amplified the old video after Reddy was declared the CM-designate of Telangana by the Congress High Command.

In a tweet on Saturday, another issue was raked up. At the swearing-in ceremony recently, Reddy and his wife didn't touch the feet of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress chief. BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya wondered if that's because Kharge is a Dalit. He wrote: "Soon after the swearing-in, Revanth Reddy and his wife fell on the feet of Sonia Gandhi to seek blessings. No problem. It is part of our culture. But only shook hands with Kharge ji, although he is much senior, both in age and position. Is it because he is a Dalit, a rubber stamp Congress president or both?"

Will this campaign benefit the BJP in the 2024 General Elections in Telangana?
