The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the Indian state of Telangana, led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is aiming to win the next assembly elections for the third consecutive time. However, surveys conducted by the BRS leadership suggest that the party faces significant anti-incumbency sentiment among the people, making it challenging for KCR to retain power.

The surveys have revealed that over 25 sitting MLAs in the state have underperformed, and if they are given tickets again by the BRS, they are likely to lose the elections. KCR has reportedly started the process of identifying at least 25 MLAs whose replacement with new candidates is necessary for the party to return to power for the third term.

He plans to discuss the matter with each MLA individually and try to convince them about the need to step aside, as they do not stand a chance to win the elections again. To placate the MLAs, KCR is expected to promise them various other positions in the party as well as government.

Some may be offered MLC tickets, and some may be given corporation chairperson positions or other cabinet rank positions. In any case, there will be a massive overhaul of the party candidates before the next elections, according to party sources.
