P V Narasimha Rao To Be Conferred With Bharat Ratna Today

Former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao conferred the Bharat Ratna posthumously by the Government of India on March 30, 2024. PV Prabhakar Rao will receive the award on behalf of late P V Narasimha Rao.

President Droupadi Murmu will confer Bharat Ratna upon five eminent personalities including two former Prime Ministers (posthumously) and veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani on Saturday in Rashtrapati bhavan.

Among the five personalities to be awarded Bharat Ratna, except for former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, four others -- ex-Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and P.V. Narasimha Rao, eminent agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan, and former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur, would be awarded posthumously.

Highest civilian award of republic of India-Bharat Ratna is conferred for exceptional service towards any field of human endeavour, without distinction of race, occupation, position, or sex. The provision of Bharat Ratna was introduced in 1954.
