No Respite For Arvind Kejriwal In Delhi High Court

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal's bail was denied by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed an interim bail petition in the Delhi High Court after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate(ED) in the Delhi Liquor scam.

The petition was heard on March 27th, 2024. While hearing the petition the court denied bail before ED counter. The High Court observed, "While hearing and deciding a case, the court is duty-bound to hear both sides fairly, keeping in mind the principles of natural justice." Subsequently the High ordered the ED to submit their counter by April 2. Next hearing is scheduled for April 3.

It is pertinent to note that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement directorate on March 21 with the charges of corruption in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.The special PMLA court, Delhi has remanded Arvind Kejriiwal for ED custody for six days till March 28, 2024. In this same case, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC, and the daughter of former CM K Chandrashekar Rao, K Kavitha were also arrested earlier. As of now, K Kavitha is in judicial custody till April 9.
