On Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) authorities razed down the under-construction YSRCP central office in Tadepalli to the ground amid a heavy police presence at the site. The authoritarian action has been condemned by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It must be noted that the construction was challenged as illegal but the YSRCP had approached the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP had challenged the "preliminary actions of the authorities". The exercise began at around 5:30 am on Saturday. Excavators and bulldozers were deployed at the site.
The whole demolition drive was carried out in a hostile manner. The deployment of heavy security, the closing down of the gates, and the government's utter disregard for the opposition to the drive earlier are extremely concerning.
The YSRCP is planning to pursue legal options against the government. It feels that the TDP-led NDA government has resorted to vendetta politics.
