Addanki is one of the stronghold seats for Telugu Desam of late and more so since Gottipati Ravi Kumar went from YCP to joining TDP. He is a super strong candidate locally.
In the lead up to the 2024 election, Jagan appears to have grossly miscalculated by fielding Hanimi Reddy here. Hanimi Reddy is a YCP loyalist but he is not a local in Addanki and has an outsider tag to carry.
Panem Hanimi Reddy is working hard on the ground, but he is trailing behind his opponent in terms of local cadre connections as Ravi is clearly leading the race.
Gottipati Ravikumar holds a significant mass image in this segment, having been elected three times consecutively from three different political parties. He is highly accessible to cadre and maintains strong social ties. Additionally, he enjoys support from the loyal TDP vote bank, which remains intact in this area.
Had Jagan fielded a local candidate in Addanki, the situation could have been completely different but that isn't the case now and as a result, YCP could be paying the price here.
