Former DSP Venugopal aspirant of TDP Puttaparthi ticket joins YSRCP

In a significant development related to the Puttaparthi constituency, former DSP Venugopal, who hoped to get a ticket from TDP, joined YSRCP in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday, April 1, 2024. Jagan Mohan Reddy who was on the fifth day of Memantha Siddham bus yatra touring Sri Sathya Sai district welcomed DSP Venugopal into the party by presenting him with a YSRCP scarf.

There was a competition among the former minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Former DSP Venugopal for the Puttaparthi Lok Sabha constituency. TDP thought of giving a ticket other than Palle Raghunatha Reddy who contested unsuccessfully from the Puttaparthi constituency in 2019, clinching the second position Duddukunta Sreedhar Reddy from YSRCP.

TDP initially contemplated awarding the party ticket to DSP Venugopal, a well-respected figure in the Puttaparthi constituency. The TDP party made a dramatic U-turn in its decision-making process and gave the ticket to Palle Raghunatha Reddy’s daughter-in-law, Palle Sindhura Reddy.

Now, it is speculated that the defection of DSP Venugopal is going to have a huge impact on the constituency as he comes from a Backward community that has around 50,000 vote banks and his goodwill in the constituency.
