Suhasini, the only daughter of Nandamuri Harikrishna and granddaughter of Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao, has reportedly set her sights on Andhra Pradesh politics. She is the first of the third generation of the Nandamuri clan to enter politics and had previously contested from Kukatpally in Telangana during the 2018 elections, which had caused quite a stir at the time.
Although Junior NTR did not campaign for his sister directly, he showed his support on Twitter. Unfortunately, Suhasini lost that election, but it is rumored that her interest in politics has only grown since then. This time around, Suhasini is rumored to be eyeing a seat in Andhra Pradesh. Speculation has been rife for some time, but the location of the seat was unknown until recently.
It is believed that she will contest from Chilakaluripet in Guntur district, a seat previously held by former minister Prathipati Pullarao. The minister made his political debut during the 2014 elections and won by a significant majority. He has maintained a good grip on the area since then, and the fact that Chilakaluripet has a large Kamma community and high numbers of BCs (backward classes) makes it an attractive seat for Suhasini.
Jagan gave a ticket to Vidadala Rajni, who played the Kamma vs. BC card, in the 2019 elections, and she won and was made a minister last year. This has made the area even more significant, and it is said that Rajini's ticket is guaranteed there in 2024. Meanwhile, Prathipati Pullarao has also ramped up his campaign. It seems that everything is being set up for the next election.
It remains to be seen whether Nandamuri Suhasini will contest from that seat, but regardless of where she chooses to stand, her candidacy is expected to be well received. It is believed that the large Kamma community in the area will support her, and her Nandamuri lineage will also attract voters. While Chandrababu may try to thwart her campaign, many believe that Suhasini is the right candidate for the job and will likely succeed.
