Vijayasai Reddy, who was previously known for his auditing skills, became a key figure in the YCP political party after joining its core team and then becoming a member of Rajya Sabha. He played a significant role in revitalizing the YCP in Visakhapatnam, a district that had been stagnant for the party.

Under his leadership, the YCP won four assembly seats in Visakhapatnam in the 2019 elections. However, since Vijayasai Reddy's departure from Visakhapatnam in 2022, there has been a perceived slowdown in the party's momentum in the region. Despite this, many party members and local leaders continue to express a desire for him to return and take charge of the party once again.

One issue of concern for the YCP is the growing momentum of their opposition, the TDP, in the region. The recent lack of action and leadership in Visakhapatnam could potentially harm the YCP's chances in the upcoming elections.

Hence there is a talk in YSRCP that CM Jagan is getting a lot of requests for elevating him back and giving him the control of the party in North Andhra region given the tough battle ahead with TDP in the next assembly elections. The party cadre believes he can lift the sagging morale following the loss of crucial MLC elections last week in this politically significant region.
