Indian-Americans want to fight gun violence, raises funds

Recently, a 33-year-old Indian-American woman residing in Morrisville, North Carolina, was shot dead by her husband.
Last month, the deceased, identified as Nabaruna Karmakar, an engineer, was found dead with two gunshot wounds when the police arrived at her house, in response to a 911 call by her husband, Michael Aaron Matthews.
He reported that his wife committed suicide; however, he was charged with a murder case and was arrested on April 14.
In order to bring these kinds of incidents under control, Nabaruna’s family and close associates are raising funds to help prevent gun violence.
According to a report by the Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organisation, as many as 5,971 deaths, 11,035 injuries, and 184 mass shootings were reported due to gun violence in the first four months of 2023, amongst which 290 children were shot.
Just a few days ago, Aishwarya Thatikonda from Telangana was shot dead while she was shopping at a mall in Texas,.
Naba's family is raising funds to help the Everytown for Gun Safety Fund in the hopes of preventing future tragedies. As of now, it has received nearly $10,000.
