The new year 2023 has ushered with happiness and celebration. Let’s hope this continues and the same applies to our film industry. More the number of good films and hits, more will be the business and everyone in the industry will get benefited irrespective of their stature and position. In fact, Tollywood created a record with almost 300 films.

This year is all set for some big releases coming up in Telugu and as expected we have many films lined up for the upcoming Sankranthi season, usually a busy and auspicious film release season. The biggies of Tollywood, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna are making a splash with their films Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy respectively. Naturally there are speculations as to which movie will fare well at the box office.

Chiranjeevi has two more films lined up in 2023. His next film is Bholaa Shankar coming up under the direction of Meher Ramesh. Anil Ravipudi is teaming up with Balakrishna for another film. One more eagerly awaited flick of 2023 is the combination of Mahesh-Trivikram. They are working after more than a decade of 'Khaleja' and naturally there are more expectations on this movie.

Prabhas has two films lined up this year with Salaar and Aadi Purush. Adi Purush will release first followed by Prashant Neel's Salaar follows. One more amazing combination this year is Ram Charan and Shankar. The film may be released by August and it is the only public announcement this year from Cherry. Pawan Kalyan has a project Harihara Veera Mallu being directed by Krish. He has more films in the offing, but no details have come out.

After the super success of Pushpa, now there are very high expectations on Pushpa-2 at all India level. Other hero’s projects include Nani's Dasara, Naga Chaitanya's Custody, Akhil's Agent, Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura, Vijay Devarakonda's Khushi as well as DJ Tillu sequel. One surprising thing this year is Junior NTR may not have a single release in 2023. Last year was a good one for Tollywood since most films having content were lapped by the audience while films with full hype and no substance were rejected outright. Moreover, many films are coming up with pan India expectations but the reality is that the story should be appealing enough and pan India tag should not be misused or abused, harming our filmmakers reputation.
