Harish Shankar vs Chota K Naidu: 'Ramayya Vasthavayya' controversy is back

Back in 2013, during the making of 'Ramayya Vasthavayya', it was rumoured that not everything was going well between director Harish Shankar and cinematographer Chota K Naidu. More than ten years after the release of the eminently forgettable Jr NTR-starrer, the controversy is back in the news.

In his most recent interview, Chota tried to project the director as closed-minded. He suggested that the 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh' maker interferes with the cinematographer's work even though he doesn't possess adequate knowledge about cinematography.

Harish Shankar is upset. A while ago, he put out a public statement on social media, arguing that he never spoke ill of Chota but the latter never reciprocated the courtesy. "At a point in time, I wanted to replace you (Chota) with some other cinematographer. Since Dil Raju garu advised me to stick with you, I didn't exercise that option. Also, I didn't want to give out the impression that I was full of myself after the success of 'Gabbar Singh'," the director wrote in a statement.

It's funny that the 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' director boasts in the statement that he never blamed Chota for the failure of 'Ramayya Vasthavayya'. The buck always stops with the director, not the cinematographer.
