'Kushi' fame Mumtaz talks about agonizing health condition

'Kushi' and 'Attarintiki Daredi' fame Mumtaz hasn't been seen in movies for the past many years. In her latest interview, the sizzling actress of the 2000s Tamil and Telugu cinema has opened up about battling an auto-immune condition. Arthritis and hormonal imbalance gave her writhing pain, she said.

Speaking in the interview, Mumtaz stated that the back pain was so severe that she would often cry. She could hardly move. Multiple visits to doctors were of no use. A doctor finally identified her problem and called it auto-immune. Since auto-immune disorders have no cure but only treatment, Mumtaz had to keep swallowing pills. She eventually gained weight.

Mumtaz thanked her brother for standing by her side during the bad phase. She also revealed that she had to battle depressing thoughts.

Auto-immune conditions are hard to diagnose. They don't have blood tests or other radiological tests through which they can be established definitively. Specialists arrive at the right diagnoses based on symptoms. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is suffering from Myositis. Mamta Mohandas was last year diagnosed with Vitiligo, another auto-immune condition.
