'Family Star': Day 1 figure nothing compared to 'Liger', 'Kushi'

'Family Star' has been a thorough disappointment. Its Day 1 collections were abysmal compared to Vijay Deverakonda's previous two movies. Here are the details:

1. 'Liger' earned a worldwide share of Rs 13.45 Cr on Day 1. Its gross figure stood at about Rs 25 Cr (approximately). The action film was directed by Puri Jagannadh, who is far more popular than Parasuram Petla (the maer of 'Family Star'). Also, its genre played a significant role in ensuring the collections were high.

2. 'Kushi', which was released in theatres last year, collected a gross of Rs 25.50 Cr and a distributor share of Rs 13.75 Cr on Day 1. In other words, its collections were as good as what 'Liger' had earned a year earlier.

3. In contrast to the above two movies, 'Family Star' earned a share of Rs 6.35 Cr (as per some trade reports). This is about half what 'Liger' or 'Kushi' had earned at the BO.

'Family Star' is not enjoying the advantage of a positive talk. With music by Gopi Sundar, it stars Mrunal Thakur as the heroine. Sri Venkateswara Creations has produced the movie.
