Interview: 'Bharathanatyam' actor Surya Teja Aelay

'Bharathanatyam', starring Surya Teja Aelay, Meenakshi Goswami, Harsha Chemudu, Harshavardhan, and others, will hit the screens on April 5.

Directed by KVR Mahendra, it is produced by Payal Saraf. With music by Vivek Sagar, cinematography by Venkat R Shakamuri, fights by Devaraj and editing by Raviteja Girijala, the film is a "fictional story that draws its situations from real life".

In this interview, lead actor Surya Teja talsk about the film and his experience of woring on it.

Highlights:

It was not my aim to become a hero. My interest primarily lay in direction and writing. 'Bharathanatyam' happened to me rather accidentally. During the scripting stage, I didn't know that I was destined to play the protagonist. Writing, like acting, is new to me.

Actors like Ajay Ghosh, Viva Harsha, Temper Vamsi were imagined for their roles even during the scripting stage. Thanks to this clarity, we didn't have to waste our time with casting. The scale of the movie went up during the making.

What happens when we use short-cuts in life for success and money? That's the philosophical question this film asks. The treatment is commercial while the situations/characters are life-like.

'Bharathanatyam' is an unlikely title for a crime comedy. You will have to watch the film to know the rationale behind the title.

I personally am a fan of Krishna Vamsi garu and Triviram Srinivas garu. I like them as persons. As for inspiration, I look at life. In the stories that I write, the focus is entirely on the story rather than other elements like heroism.

Solo release in theatres these days is not possible. Every Friday, there are a few releases hitting the screens.
