Interview: Chandini Chowdary about 'Gaami'

'Gaami', set to hit the screens on March 8, has grown in popularity in recent times. The film's 3-minute-long trailer has got the trade up and running. Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, the distribution house that released 'Baby', 'DJ Tillu' and 'Ambajipeta Marriage Band' in recent times, has laid its hands on Gaami's domestic release rights.

Actress Chandini Chowdary co-stars alongside Vishwak Sen in a semi-experimental film helmed by director Vidyadar Kagita. At the time she was offered this significant role, Chandini hadn't yet appeared in 'Colour Photo'. Instead, she was engrossed in the production of 'Manu', a crowdfunded film that unfortunately didn't fare well in theaters. Reflecting on the experience, Chandini remarks, "'Gaami' was filmed in authentic locations like Varanasi, Kashmir, Ladakh, and others. Due to budget constraints, we couldn't afford large crews."

The film provided her with a unique chance to explore, encountering extraordinary individuals such as Sadhus up close and immersing herself in new environments. "Traveling allows me to maintain a sense of detachment. That's what I have come to realize over time. I let go of all expectations and embrace the opportunity to meet new people," shares Chandini, for whom traveling is akin to a meditative experience.

Chandini doesn't advocate for promotional campaigns orchestrated by publicists on her behalf. She prefers to let her work speak for itself.

'Gaami' has Chandini in the role of a bespectacled woman named Jahnavi. Apparently, hers is a cerebral role in the period drama.
