'True Lover', led by Manikandan, Gouri Priya Reddy and Kanna Ravi, will hit the screens on February 9 in both Telugu and Tamil. Its teaser launch event was held today in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, producer SKN said, "Maruthi is always up-to-date with movies even from other languages. He watched 'Lover' and decided that it be released as 'True Lover' in Telugu. The story is as striking and exciting as the story of 'Baby' (2023). You can make controversial youthful movies and contemporary youthful movies. We prefer to do the latter. Rakendu Mouli is a passionate writer. His level of dedication is the same regardless of the scale of the movie."
Maruthi said that 'True Lover' is so realistic that its detailing surprised him. "Manikandan's performance is so raw. 'Premisthe', the Telugu-dubbed version of 'Kaadhal', made money for me when I distributed it in 2004. Presenting 'True Lover' reminds me of that experience. This Valentine's Day, everyone can watch this subtle, feel-good, clean movie," Maruthi, who is currently directing Prabhas' 'Raja Saab', said.
Actor Manikandan thanked Maruthi and SKN for presenting his Tamil film in Telugu. "While the scale of 'True Lover' is small, the dream underlying it is huge. We couldn't bring this film together despite approaching five producers. Finally, after we found the right producers, we didn't look back. It's a relatable and enjoyable film," Manikandan said.
Gouri Priya said, "I am grateful that our film is reaching the Telugu audience because of Maruthi garu and SKN garu. 'True Lover' is an honest, real film that explores the highs and lows of modern-day romantic relationships."
Directed by debutant Prabhuram Vyas, the film's music is by Sean Roldan and the cinematography is by Shreyaas Krishna. Art direction is by Raj Kamal.
