I enjoyed speaking in a local dialect in 'Naa Saami Ranga': Ashika Ranganath

Ashika Ranganath suggests that she has essayed an assertive village belle's role in 'Naa Saami Ranga', which is slated to hit the screens on January 14. With her very second Telugu film, the multi-lingual actress has got to romance Akkineni Nagarjuna, a star hero she has always admired. Her role in the Sankranthi release is more than just a visual attraction, though.

"There is more to my part than just the romance with Nag sir. The film's timeline leaps by several years. After the leap, Varaalu, my character, has a different body language. I enjoy speaking in local dialects. And I had the most fun speaking those lines on the sets of the film. I have also dubbed for my character. The ball is in the court of director Vijay Binni whether he wants to retain my voice in the end," says Ashika.

"Women in village-based films typically play dependent roles. However, Varaalu, portrayed by me in the movie, breaks this mold by embodying strength and independence. She stands firm. Whether such independence is practically achievable for women in real life remains uncertain to me," says Ashika, who debuted in Telugu with the film 'Amigos' in 2022.

The film also features Allari Naresh, Rao Ramesh, Nasser and Raj Tarun.
