Sankranthi row: Industry bodies issue a warning to Tollywood media

The Film Chamber of Commerce, the Telangana State Film Chamber, and the Telugu Film Producers Council today warned a section of the Tollywood media for putting out articles and views that allegedly create an unhealthy atmosphere in the industry. The statement is a rejoinder to some reports blaming the alleged dominance of a prominent distributor in influencing the scale of different releases this Sankranthi. In the main, 'Guntur Kaaram' has been seen as getting an undue advantage in some markets, especially Hyderabad.

As per the three industry bodies, things have been deliberated upon so that every film gets its due. "It is because of internal negotiations between producers and other stakeholders that Ravi Teja's 'Eagle' was postponed amicably. Likewise, 'Captain Miller' has been postponed. Sivakarthikeyan's 'Ayalaan' has been pushed from January 12 to January 19 on mutually beneficial terms. Without understanding the internal dynamics, some websites and social media handles have been resorting to propaganda. Due to their behaviour, the seeds of discord have been sown between producers, directors, heroes and their fans," a statement issued by the three bodies today said.

The statement warns that action will be taken if the media continues to write what they want without reaching out to the industry bodies to know the "truth".
